Donna Long Obituary

Donna M. Long (Pino)

Donna M. Long, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully passed away after a long illness on February 9, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on February 14, 1953, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Kieran; her daughter, Stephanie; and her parents, Frank and Mary Pino.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Eness and Larry Nigro of New Hampshire; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sile and Mark Hurrie of Florida. Donna also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews: Laurene and John Demoy, Amanda and Rick Aguiar, Sarah Beaulieu, Mark and Parul Hurrie, Jr, and Thomas and Heather Hurrie; and grandnieces and grandnephews: John, Matthew, Ella, Alysa, Lilianna, Lillika, Declan, Nolan, and Colin. Donna was known for her warmth, deep faith, and love of laughter by all who loved her.

A graduate of Canton High School, Donna attended Quincy Junior College. Donna worked as a medical transcriptionist at many local hospitals, including the Goddard Memorial Hospital, Jordan Hospital (now BID Plymouth), and South Shore Medical Center.

Donna met the love of her life, Kieran, at college, where he was also a student. They were married in 1977. Eventually settling in Marshfield, MA, they built their dream home and hosted holidays and family pool parties.

Donna’s caring nature and dedication to family were evident in the way she and Kieran cherished Stephanie, born in 1979 with significant health challenges. Along with Donna’s mother and respite caretakers, Stephanie was cared for in their home with love and tenderness. Donna was a fierce advocate for Stephanie’s well-being and taught everyone the power of a mother’s love.

After Stephanie’s passing in 1991, Donna and Kieran continued sharing their love for her by establishing a fund at the Massachusetts Hospital School for respite care and to send disabled children from MHS to Disney World.

Donna blessed her family and friends with her smile, laughter, and a light from within. Through lunches and dinners, thoughtful cards, phone calls, and texts, she remembered each milestone and maintained loving connections with everyone. She made many memories through travel with family and friends, visiting destinations such as Bermuda, London, England, Rome, Italy, Sedona, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, and Disney World in Florida. Stowe, VT, was a favorite fall destination for Donna and Kieran. Simple day trips were just as special, such as spending the day on Cape Cod and going for ice cream with her grandnephews.

Holidays and celebrations are centered around family traditions. Each year, she would gather with her sister, nieces, and grandnieces and grandnephews for ravioli day. Hundreds of raviolis were made while singing and dancing to favorite holiday music, such as “Italian Jingle Bells” and “Step Into Christmas”, and were enjoyed on Christmas.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13th at 10 am at St. Oscar Romero Parish, 700 Washington Street, Canton. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend, followed by an interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph Street, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cape Abilities, 895 Mary Dunn Road, Hyannis, MA 02601.
